Hamilton Gray Park

Hamilton Gray Park, the son of Samuel Park and Isabella Gray, was born in Kilbirnie, Scotland, on 25th November 1826. It seems he became a Mormon and was baptised in the town. Most likely in the river Garnock before emigrating to Utah.

This book has a lot of detailed information about the Auld Kirk in Kilbirnie, River Garnock, Place, Fairs,  as well as the history of  prominent families and findings of the area,. Barclays, Crawfurds, Cunninghame, etc History of the kirk etc including names of early people serving there.

Townhead, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire C.1880

This is an interesting photo of Townhead, Kilbirnie Ayrshire. The remains of Martin´s Shed (only a bit of a wall) can still be seen today just down from the supermarket (which was Morrisons), on the other side of the road in a little alcove behind some bushes.  In this picture Martin´s shed is the white building in the middle. Kilbirnie Brethren Assembly first met here in the 1800s as well as the Good Templars Hall in Bridgend, Kibirnie, before they built the Gospel Hall in Schoolwynd 1897, on the site where Jamie Clifford was born.

RW Knox Lamp #northayrshire #kilbirnie

Does anyone else remember this lamp? The last time I saw it was in the stables museum (the small museum which was at one point beneath the walker Hall) and the lamp had been removed  from a bridge in the town.

I´m sure I have a recollection of this so it must have been there back in the 70s.

The houses behind give a clue but I can´t quite place it.
